James T. Faassé is a distinguished Hearing Instrument Specialist licensed in Michigan, with prior licensure in California, boasting a combined family legacy of over 50 years in hearing aid technology, specializing in fitting and programming hearing instruments.
Early Career and Education
James began his journey in the hearing aid industry alongside his father, who owned the Michigan Hearing Aid Company. He pursued studies in musicology and the science of sound at Grand Rapids Junior College (GRJC). He later earned a scholarship to the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music (BCCM), where he specialized in computer music under the renowned Professor Charles Dodge. Enlisting in the United States Air Force (USAF), James furthered his training at Walter Reed Medical Center, graduating in the top 10 of his class.
Professional Achievements
Relocating to San Diego, California, James collaborated with Hyman Goldberg, a pioneering hearing instrument engineer and owner of Dyn-Aura Engineering, who developed the world’s first analog fully automatic hearing aid. Building on this foundation, James founded his own clinic, S.M.A.R.T. Hearing Aid Company, in La Jolla, California, which he successfully operated for several years. During this period, he honed his marketing and copywriting skills under the mentorship of Ken Kerr, former Art Director for Walt Disney.
Returning to Michigan to care for his mother, James served at Miracle Ear in Grand Rapids for two years before advancing his career at McDonald Audiology and Hearing Health Care. For the past 20 years, he has dedicated himself to empowering the hard of hearing, sharing his profound knowledge to enhance patients’ quality of life through superior hearing solutions.
Personal Interests
In his leisure time, James trains and competes with his Border Collies in dog frisbee tournaments. He is also a 5th Degree Black Belt Master Instructor in Kenpo Karate, passionately teaching the discipline to others.
